Transfer Rumor: Atlanta United in "advanced negotiations" for Williams Alarcon loan move
Another midfielder coming?
Atlanta United could soon be adding another midfielder to its squad. According to German Garcia Grova, the Five Stripes are in “advanced negotiations” to bring in midfielder Williams Alarcon from Boca Juniors on a loan move.
Alarcon is a 25-year-old midfielder capable of playing as a defensive or box-to-box player. He is a former Chile under-23 youth player.
With the addition of Mauricio Amaro already, another possible defensive-minded midfield addition is a little out of left field with needs at other positions seemingly more pressing.
The worst attack in MLS has seen two departures already this transfer window, with no reinforcements yet in sight.
However, depth in the midfield can never be a bad thing (unless it’s bad depth!). If this move comes to fruition, it will be interesting to see how it would affect the minutes of Tristan Muyumba, Jay Fortune, and Cooper Sanchez.
