TRANSFER RUMOR: Atlanta United in talks to sign AS Roma striker
The Five Stripes have less than 48 hours to get it over the line.
Atlanta United are in a race against the clock to add another impact attacking player to finish up the 2024 season. According to Twitter.com’s Fabrizio Romano, the Five Stripes are in talks to sign AS Roma striker Eldor Shomurodov before Wednesday’s MLS Secondary Transfer Window closes.
Shomurodov is a 6’3” target man who represents his birth country Uzbekistan at the international level, whom he has scored 40 goals in 73 appearances for.
The big striker joined the famed Serie A side in 2021 for a massive transfer fee of around $23 million from Genoa.
Despite the hefty transfer fee three years ago, he has not lived up to the billing for the Giallorossi, only scoring six goals in 48 appearances since joining the club.
His value on the market and stature as a player has dipped tremendously since making the move to Roma. It seems he is desperate to find a way out and to regain his form. It remains to be seen what type of deal this would be for Atlanta United or if he would require a Designated Player slot to join the squad. All of those factors will need to be ironed out before we can really assess the quality of the signing.
Let’s see if they can get this one over the line in time to help the current squad finish out the season.
I guess this is a no this window
Are there any famous French strikers available? No? Oh. Ok. We will take this guy then. 🙄
