TRANSFER RUMOR: Atlanta United close to signing free agent Pedro Amador
This one seems to be gaining steam quickly.
Silly season is in full swing and we have our first incoming transfer rumor of the summer. It originates from Portuguese journalist Sebastião Sousa Pinto, who claims that Atlanta United are close to signing 25-year-old fullback Pedro Amador as a free agent.
The report states that former Moreirense F.C. defender would sign a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Five Stripes, if the signing is completed.
Doug Roberson of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution backed up the rumor by saying that it “has some relevance” on Twitter.
While it seems random, this one passes the smell test due to the fact that it seems like a depth signing. His primary position is left-back and with Caleb Wiley likely to depart for the Olympics in a few weeks, the club will desperately need cover for him.
Despite potentially joining the club on a free transfer, Amador would have to wait until the MLS secondary transfer window opens on July 18 to be registered and eligible to play for the club.
looks like he meets the handsome quotient @robusry
In the meantime, Ronald Hernandez will be holding down the fort?
