Tactical Review: Atlanta United showed they can be unpredictable in Orlando City win

For the second straight game, Atlanta United took all three points and it felt like they did it on purpose. Yes, a late red card helped tilt the scales at the end of the match, but the Five Stripes put together something nearing a complete performance. And they did it against one of the very best teams in the league.

Nearly complete isn’t complete. Just like the Cincinnati game, there were clear imperfections. But there were also tangible signs of life for a team that had been flatlining.

“I have seen improvement, but I still do not see what I want to see,” Ronny Deila said post-match. “I want to see warriors and I want to see characters. Who are you really? Show me out [on the pitch]. Be disappointed, be angry, be happy, show emotions, talk with each other, and push each other. There are still too many looking down and thinking about themselves, maybe because they are tired, I don’t know, but that is the next step for us as a team. [The players] lead themselves, but there has definitely been a big improvement from where we have been and where we are now.”
