Atlanta United finally put one in the win column during Leagues Cup play. It only took three seasons and a bizarre mix of a lineup in a meaningless match to get it done. The Five Stripes rudely welcomed their old manager Gonzalo Pineda back by handing his side a 4-1 defeat to wrap up cup play for the year.

Let me preface this whole post with: Yes, I know it was just Atlas. They are very bad. I know they are very bad. Please don’t yell at me in the comments that they are bad.

It feels like it’s been a lifetime since Atlanta United had a comfortable match in which they took the lead, held the lead, and won without much problem. That’s exactly what we got as a mixture of starters, reserves, and kids came together and put on a fun performance from start to finish.

It would be disingenuous to put too much stock into this result and performance and deem this the start of the epic turnaround on the season. Nevertheless, we rarely get to talk about fun things around here anymore. So, let’s praise some folks, shall we?
