Rewatch notes: The second half is dark and full of terrors
Charlotte made an adjustment and Atlanta defended poorly and, well, there you go, that's it, that's the whole thing
We started off the week one rewatch column talking about great players being the key difference in Ronny Deila’s first game in charge. We have to start the week two rewatch talking about players again. Unfortunately, we’re on the other end of the spectrum here.
Nothing, either live or on rewatch, stood out as a major tactical deficiency for Atlanta United in their 2-0 loss to Charlotte. Yes, there are early season concerns that we’ll get to, but it’s not like we can point to a numbers advantage or exploited space as the main reason for the loss. These were two teams running nearly identical systems for most of the match. The bottom line is that you either make the two plays that led to goals for Charlotte or you don’t. Atlanta didn’t. There’s not much more to it than that.
