OPINION: Why Atlanta United needs a high-profile manager

Let's talk about that 20 percent.

Speaking with the media after the dismissal of Gonzalo Pineda, Garth Lagerwey stated that he believes that a club’s manager makes up only 20 percent of the equation when it comes to if a team succeeds or not.

The philosophy that the manager has a minimal impact on results in a very interesting one. I’m sure there are some advanced analytics that support that theory. But just from an optics perspective as it relates to Atlanta United and their current search for a new manager, it brings about a ton of questions.
