OFFICIAL: Juan Berrocal joins Atlanta United on loan
The defender will get 12 months to prove himself.
Atlanta United have acquired their second center back of the summer transfer window. The club announced on Friday that they’ve signed 26-year-old Juan Berrocal from Getafe. The deal is a 12-month loan move with an option to buy for an undisclosed fee.
Berrocal is comfortable playing with both feet and is likely to push for starting minutes next to the other new reinforcement Enea Mihaj in defense.
“We’re pleased to welcome Juan to the club as we continue to strengthen our group during the transfer window,” Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director Chris Henderson said. “At 26 years old, he’s already played many games in Spain and we expect him to add competition and leadership to our backline.”
The Spanish defender has spent his whole career in his birth country, playing mainly in the second division while getting some La Liga minutes in 2024-25.
The club have identified the back line as the biggest area of weakness for this team and have not hesitated to try and improve it this summer.
Just two days into the secondary transfer window and the Five Stripes have added two experienced players to a struggling squad. You can expect a few more moves to take place in the next few weeks at this pace.
