NEWS: Atlanta United learn their Leagues Cup schedule
The Five Stripes enjoy some home cooking in the group stage.
Major League Soccer and Liga MX revealed the schedule for the 2024 Leagues Cup on Thursday. Atlanta United will host both group stage matches against Santos Laguna and D.C. United.
D.C. United comes to Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Friday, July 26 to kick off play for the Five Stripes. D.C. have opened the season with a respectable record of 1-0-2. They’ll enter the tournament in a rather unique position as the only team in MLS not sending their first or second teams to CCC or a domestic competition.
Santos Laguna will travel up to the DMV to take on D.C. United on July 31, before heading down to Atlanta for the final group match on Sunday, August 4. Los Verdiblancos sit 12th in Liga MX at the time of the schedule release, with 13 points through 11 matches and a -5 goal differential.
The club's 2024 season ticket package will include the D.C. United match. Season Ticket Members will receive ticket information regarding the Santos Laguna match and Knockout Round matches today. Tickets to Atlanta’s Group Stage matches against D.C. United and Santos Laguna will begin to go on sale to the public on Friday, April 5 at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster.com. During the group stage, there will be no draws. If the score is level after 90 minutes, the match will go to penalties. The team who wins the shootout will gain two points, while the loser gets one.
30 teams will advance out of the group stage where they will meet up with Club America and Columbus Crew, who earned byes through winning their respective leagues.
