NEWS: Atlanta United announce transfer addition; assistant coaching appointments
A handful of housekeeping moves.
Atlanta United’s offseason has hit a bit of a lull since the flurry of news that saw Chris Henderson and Ronny Deila join the fold prior to the New Year. However, things are starting to wake up a bit in 2025 as the club announced a couple of moves that while might not grab headlines, will undoubtedly help build the foundation for the future.
Earlier this week, the club addressed its striker depth with the free transfer addition of Japanese-American forward Cayman Togashi. The 31-year-old born in New York City will fill the void on the striker depth chart left by the departure of Daniel Rios. Togashi has spent his entire career in Japan but will not require an international slot and will only take up a supplemental roster slot.
Ronny Deila confirmed a few additions to his coaching staff on Friday. Long-time assistant and former Rangers legend Kenny Miller will reunite with the Norwegian in Atlanta as his top assistant. Elliot Parish also joins as the new Goalkeeper coach. Matt Lawrey and Carl Robinson will continue on as assistants as well.
While the roster movement hasn’t been as fast and furious as a lot of us expected, you can be sure that Chris Henderson is hard at work to revamp the squad for the upcoming season.
I have learned to be patient with the process, sort of. To me this is tge moment we will know Garth was the right hire to lead this team moving forward. It has taken him awhile to clean house and NOW we will find out how good he really is. For the first time in a long time I have an excited good feeling for the season to come. Really curious to see what the money picks will be for the team. I like Garth’s approach and think we will see some strong ready to play and win players coming soon.
