Atlanta United has historically been a top heavy team when it comes to attacking production. Whether it was the famous dynamic duo of Josef and Miggy all the way to GG and Thiago, the Five Stripes have leaned on the high-profile stars to excite the fans and score the goals.
Last summer, the club made one of the smartest decisions they ever could’ve made. The front office began to focus on the meat of the team instead of continuously piling shiny objects on top and hoping things changed. The opportunity to finagle the roster and bring in another high-priced attacker was there, but instead, Garth Lagerwey and company made a conscious decision to bring in some unheralded and budget-friendly talent like Saba Lobjanidze and Tristan Muyumba. That change in transfer strategy has paid huge dividends and continues to do so to this day.
