BREAKING: Atlanta United U-15s ease past club from United Kingdom in first match of Generation adidas Cup

Atlanta United’s U-15s cruised to a 4-0 win in their opening match of the 2024 Generation adidas Cup. The Generation adidas Cup includes some of the most talented academies in the Americas while also inviting clubs from less reputable soccer backgrounds. It’s important for those clubs to get this kind of experience to keep growing the game, but it does mean those clubs don’t offer much of a contest.

English club Manchester United, who haven’t won anything notable beyond what appears to be the English version of the U.S. Open Cup since 2013, were overrun in this game. Atlanta United’s rising stars frequently played in behind the Manchester back line with ease. It’s what you’d expect though when facing off with a club who, despite similar attendance numbers to Atlanta United, hasn’t had the same success in the last decade and can’t just pull talent from soccer hotbeds like Dalton, Clarkston and Roswell.

The Generation adidas Cup will continue over the next week with both Atlanta’s U-15s and U-17s competing against competion that’s likely to present more of a challenge. Like St. Louis CITY SC.
