Atlanta United defeated Orlando City, 2-0, on Sunday night at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. A surprisingly conservative approach from Gonzalo Pineda yielded the desired result as the Five Stripes picked up their second consecutive win.
Saba Lobjanidze opened the scoring early on, finishing off a peach of a pass from Giorgos Giakoumakis in the opening 10 minutes. After the goal, Atlanta sat back and let Orlando enjoy the majority of possession, settling for a counter-attacking mindset. GG would turn from provider to finisher to seal the match in the second half with a sensational strike that smacked off the crossbar and settled in the net.
It was a great result produced by a refreshingly pragmatic approach.
