Atlanta United signs Dominik Chong-Qui to new homegrown contract
The promising youngster will be added to Atlanta United's first team roster effective immediately.
Atlanta United announced today that it has signed left back Academy graduate Dominik Chong-Qui to a homegrown contract that will allow him to be placed on the first team roster. In a corresponding move, midfielder Adyn Torres will be loaned for the remainder of the season to Atlanta United 2.
Chong Qui had previously signed a contract that would make him a Homegrown Player starting January 1, 2026, but his play sped up Atlanta’s timeline for him to enter the fold.
Despite not being a member of the first team, Chong-Qui maxed out his allotment of four short term call-ups through just the opening six games after the 17-year-old impressed head coach Ronny Deila in preseason. He was ineligible to participate in MLS again this season prior to inking the new deal.
Chong-Qui made his full debut in the team’s 4-3 win over New York City FC after replacing Pedro Amador in the starting lineup after the Portuguese veteran was pulled due to a quadriceps strain during warmups. Otherwise, his only action in MLS was a two-minute substitute appearance against Charlotte FC. He was an unused sub in games against Red Bulls and Montreal.
