I’m not going to write about the NYCFC game. I refuse. It was a dumpster fire that I cannot conjure up 500 or more words to discuss. I’ve said it all already. Instead, let’s talk about what the club can do to get better.
There’s still almost six weeks left until the summer transfer window opens, allowing Atlanta United to address severe needs for its roster. While any move(s) they make may be too little, too late to salvage this season, this upcoming summer window is vital to setting up next season for success.
Since I have nothing productive to say about the train wreck we saw on the field last night, I felt it would be a good time to do a little roster dreamcasting. So, here are five things I would do this summer if my name was Garth Lagerwey or Chris Henderson.
Utilize the second buyout on Stian Gregersen
Let me preface this by saying that I have nothing against Stian. He seems like a great guy and is a very good player when healthy. The massive problem is, he’s never healthy and cannot be relied on. Since his arrival in Atlanta, he has missed an astronomical amount of time with many different injuries.
