Look. How could we know how bad the reigning Supporters’ Shield holders Philadelphia Union are?

On the surface, that win seemed like the turning point. The players had figured out how to play in Tata Martino’s system and everything was going to start getting better.

Well, clearly that wasn’t the case. The Union are just god-awful.

Atlanta United got exposed as a team unable to break down a compact defensive shape against D.C. United. On Saturday, they got exposed as a team that doesn’t possess the quality to hang with better overall teams.

Here are a few thoughts on a downright bad night in the Benz.
