Things were looking bleak coming into this Atlanta United matchday. Playoffs are virtually out of reach, college football officially is underway and dominating attention spans, and the team hadn’t won a match in MLS since May.

In true Five Stripes fashion, they saved one of their best performances of the season for when hardly anyone was paying attention and results don’t matter. Nevertheless, Ronny Deila finally put out a lineup that was arguably the most effective XI he could possibly field. It paid huge dividends as Atlanta outplayed Nashville in their stadium for the first 60 minutes and hung on to win their first away match of 2025 with a 1-0 clean sheet.

Here are a few thoughts on a win that broke several long and dubious streaks.
