Atlanta United’s worst start in franchise history continued on Saturday night with a 3-0 loss to rivals Orlando City. The match never felt close or competitive as the Five Stripes were completely outmatched for 90 minutes by a better team.
Here are a couple of thoughts on possibly the darkest period in club history.
Rock Bottom
We’ve tried ranting. We’ve tried metaphors. We’ve tried being positive. There is really nothing left to say other than this feels like the bottom. MLS is Back was a dark time to be an Atlanta United fan with how bad and inept the team looked. But at least you had the excuse of Josef Martinez being on the shelf. The start of this season couldn’t have gotten off to a worse start. Everything that could go wrong seemingly has. And the sad thing is, there are very little excuses to be made for why the team only has nine points through their opening 10 matches.
